Consumers are responsible for almost 50 percent of food waste. Consumer-focused interventions are crucial to achieve many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 12.3. There are many factors that cause food waste, and these can be prevented by changing the consumption behavior of adults. Mobile apps are seen as promising tools to change consumer behavior for ensuring more sustainable food consumption. This study describes the development process and examines the perceived quality of MySusCof, an app intended to reduce the food waste of consumers. The uMARS scale was used for collecting data from consumers. Within the scope of the study, two studies were conducted to examine the development process of the application and to determine the user reactions to the mobile application. Results show that gamification elements with hedonic and social components, as well as functional aspects, are important features for user engagement and perceived impact. The qualitative results also supported the user experience in both hedonic and functional value and role of mobile apps to lead behavior change. This study serves as a guideline for future developers of mobile apps intended to lead consumers to a more sustainable food consumption.
In this study, the general structure of swarm robotics is examined. Algorithms inspired by nature, which form the basis of swarm robotics, are introduced. Communication topologies in robotic swarms, which are similar to the communication methods between living things moving in nature, are included and how these can be used in swarm communication is emphasized. With the developed algorithms, how the swarm can imitate nature and what tasks it can perform have been explained. The various problems that will be encountered in terms of the design of the optimization methods used during the control of the swarm and the solutions are simulated using the Webots software. As a result, ideas on the solutions of these problems and suggestions are proposed.
Since the first years of humanity, heating still maintains its place as one of the most basic needs for home comfort. In future, we have to create communication network that will enable heating systems to work more efficiently and comfortably. Combi boiler is a device used both for heating domestic water and for heating needs The OpenTherm Protocol was created by combi boiler manufacturers. This protocol provides the opportunity to control combi boiler from different brands using the same communication language. When wireless communication is required, frequently, we see that the OpenTherm protocol is used as RF, but there are too many breaks in this setup. It is not possible to fully communicate with the heating area. System that installed over a Wi-Fi with TCP/IP based MQTT will be better than RF. MQTT is a communication protocol frequently used about used in IOT applications MQTT is a protocol that uses TCP/IP infrastructure and can meet all our communication needs for OpenTherm without any problems. Keywords: MQTT, OpenTherm, IoT, TCP/IP, Combi Boiler.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
