PICC lines are a future solution in pediatrics. This technique is reliable and has a similar complication rate to studies carried out in adults, most of which can be prevented by careful catheter maintenance and informing the care staff.
CT angiography that is normal or with a nonobstructive coronary plaque has a negative predicting value of 95% [0.82-0.99] for major cardiac adverse events, and of 100% [0.91-1] for clinical coronary events in patients undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation. The prognostic value of CT angiography was comparable with that of dobutamine stress echography.
Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVD/C) is an inherited heart muscle disease that predominantly affects the right ventricle. Clinical manifestations are related to severe ventricular arrhythmia that may lead to sudden death, mostly in young patients. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), included in the new diagnostic criteria since 2010, aims to detect segmental and global wall motion abnormalities, reduced ejection fraction, right ventricular dilatation and right ventricular diastolic/systolic dysfunction. An MRI assessment of the right ventricle is often challenging, partly because the MRI diagnostic criteria have some limitations, and also because it requires a significant learning curve due to the low prevalence of the disease. Therefore, this article aims to review the pathophysiology of the disease, the cardiac MRI protocol, images of the various stages of this affection as well as the differential diagnosis.
Bronchogenic cysts are benign congenital malformations usually. A retroperitoneal location is extremely uncommon. We reported a case of bronchogenic cyst occurred in the retroperitoneum in a 60-year-old patient. An abdominal CT for a prostatic adenocarcinoma staging has reported this incidental lesion. Biological, radiological and histological assessment confirmed the bronchogenic cyst diagnosis. The treatment of choice for most authors is surgical excision. However, because of a low malignant transformation risk, we have chosen a follow-up with abdominal computerized tomography every 6 months. During 3 years, biological and radiological assessments have shown a stable lesion. Therefore, it seems reasonable to propose a simple radiological monitoring for bronchogenic cysts in selected patients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations鈥揷itations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
