Pteris argyraea Moore (1859: 671), commonly known as silver brake fern, is originally a south-east Asian species, but now cultivated as an ornamental plant throughout the tropical regions of the world.
The present paper deals with 309 angiospermic plants, in which dicots 255 species and monocots 54 species were collected from the various villages and forests area including hill and hillocks of the Patan District, Gujarat state.
A new fern species, Pteris subiriana (Pteridaceae), is described from India. Pteris subiriana is very similar to P. blumeana in frond morphology and having prominent setae above the costules. But Pteris subiriana can be distinguished by the habit of rhizome, rhizome scales and spore morphology. Pteris subiriana grows naturally in Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in India.
