Online learning has evolved over the years, becoming increasingly accessible and gaining credibility as a learning medium. Universities are reshaping education on the Web by means of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). The learners can access educational content anytime, from anyplace and participatory culture using social networks seems to be the biggest advantage that MOOC has brought to the world of education especially in the higher education arena. MOOC has rapidly developed from a small section of specialist courses to millions of registered users on major online platforms offering hundreds of courses. As MOOC expands, attrition and accreditation is a problem. Though MOOC is expanding very fast, the literature on MOOC research is limited. This paper presents a survey on MOOC providers which aims to capture the state of MOOC, how they evolved and to identify issues and challenges that are important for MOOC providers.
Cloud computing has revolutionized the way computinginfrastructure is abstracted and used. There is a proliferation ofnumber of applications which leverage various cloud platforms, resulting in a tremendous increase in the scale of data generated aswell as consumed by such applications. This paper reviews thefeatures of Cloud computing and then gives a survey of differentdatabase architecture for cloud computing. Scalable databasemanagement systems are a crucial part of the cloud infrastructurewhich includes both update intensive workloads and decisionsupport systems. The paper presents an organized picture of thechallenges and open issues pertaining to database managementsystems in developing and deploying internet scale applications inthe cloud environment. The typical properties of commerciallyavailable databases for cloud computing environment are alsobrought out.
Instructional strategies for e-content development have to be entirely different from that for traditional printed materials, such as text books and manuals. This is due to the fact that, technically and socially both have different instructional processes. Due to the advent of ICT development in recent times, many Computer Technology subject contents are being uploaded in e-learning modes. Training imparted through e-modes has increased in recent times specifically in India. This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of our suggestion on Real World Problem centric Instructional approach. Specific issues on the e-mode have been inferred through a social study conducted on Indian learners (respondents). The paper justifies the adaptation of ‘First Principles of Instruction’ through our experimental study. Due to reasons elaborated in the paper this proven Instructional approach using ‘First Principles of Instruction’ would be well suited for e-content development of Computer Science and Engineering subjects.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
