The influence of laser radiation on the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite materials was carried out. The results showed that laser treatment of CFRP leads to a decrease of less than 7% of the strength properties of the materials. A comparative analysis of the results of a tensile test of CFRP sliced by laser radiation and conventional mechanical cutting was performed. The results of XRD and SEM analysis showed that after laser treatment on the surface of the CFRP a layer of modified material structurally similar to graphite appears. During the heating of epoxy resin an effect of 'self-treatment' of cracks and voids could be observed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
