The density and thermal expansion of alumina (99.99"/0) were studied in the liquid and solid states in the region of crystallization and melting by irradiating the samples with a narrow beam of gamma quanta. The temperature dependence of the density of strongly supercooled (by 220 K) alumina and the specific volume change on crystallization were determined. The results are compared with the data available in the literature.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
