Supplier relationship management is one of the key functions of supply chain management and strategically important for many competitive organizations. The critical function of the supplier relationship is to identify the organizational strategic need and to develop the suppliers in line with that. However, most supplier development programs fail in discrete manufacturing industries due to associated problems in both the buying and selling organizations. This research explores the importance of supplier development along with attributes responsible for failure of supplier development programs in discrete manufacturing industries. This study also provides theoretical frameworks for supplier development and barriers to supplier development in the discrete manufacturing segment.
The novel COVID-19 global pandemic has become a public health emergency of international concern affecting 215 countries and territories around the globe. As of 28 November 2020, it has caused a pandemic outbreak with a total of more than 6,171,5119 confirmed infections and more than 1,44,4235 confirmed deaths reported worldwide. The main focus of this paper is to generate LTM real-time out of sample forecasts of the future COVID-19 confirmed and death cases respectively for the top ten profoundly affected countries including for the world. To solve this problem we introduced a novel hybrid approach AARNN model based on ARIMA and ARNN forecasting model that can generate LTM (fifty days ahead) out of sample forecasts of the number of daily confirmed and death COVID-19 cases for the ten countries namely USA, India, Brazil, Russia, France, Spain, UK, Italy, Argentina, Colombia and also for the world respectively. The predictions of the future outbreak for different countries will be useful for the effective allocation of health care resources and will act as early-warning system for health warriors, corporate leaders, economists, government/public-policy makers, and scientific experts.
Suppliers are the value creators for the organizations and have emerged as value-adding partners in industrial relationships since last two decades. These values can be derived effectively given the buying organizations keep a long-term strategic relationship with high performing suppliers. To measure the performance organizations have to decide the performance parameters depending on the nature of business and their specific needs from the supply base. The current discrete manufacturing industries of India judging the performance of the suppliers based on technical capability, cost, delivery, quality & regulatory adherence for safety and environment. But from the larger interest of the manufacturing industry more relevant attributes are needs to be considered, which are explored from our research are responsiveness of the supplier, effectiveness of the aftersales service, delivery flexibility, documentation ability, trust & commitments. All these performance measurement attributes will drive effectiveness and efficiency of the supply chain.
