In trying to identify patterns of discrete independent variables in a mass of Multivariate data, J G. Crookes, K. Croston and P. r. Sypsas [5J introduced Process Components Analysis seeking for components which carry the pattern rather than those carrying the variance of the system. The methodology has been developed by P.T. Sypsas [9] and its efficiency has been tested on a number of types of series. An outline of the method and the relevant algorithm is presented here along with a worked example for simulated series of known patterns. The results appear at the end in the form of correlations between the simulated series, used as input to the system, and the resulting process components using the proposed technique. There are also presented graphs of input and output series.
This paper presents a methodology for approaching the production capacity utili· zation rate through the marginal, in relation to the scale of production, behaviour ofthe returns to scale parameter arid in connection to the output price. The specific approach is in contradiction to existing methodologies that are used for the estimation of the . capacity utilization rate, as far as that the latter are based on production, or survey data. The returns to scale parameter is derived from a translog cost function that is estimated for Greek Oil Refining industry using annual time series data for the 1969· 1994 period.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
