Esthetic dental procedures in pediatric dentistry represent sources of satisfaction and realization, as much for the patient as for the professional. Lack of dental esthetics may develop psychological problems in infant as well as in adolescent patients. Blemishes produced by fluorosis appear as a challenge to the pediatric dentist and alternatives for treatment are desired. The scope of this present paper is to relate a clinical case with esthetic solution for blemishes in teeth enamel due to fluorosis. A dual system of bleaching was used (photo/chemically activated) based on hydrogen peroxide at 35% (Hi-Lite-Shofu) in a male eight-year-old patient with white fluorosis blemishes on teeth 11 and 21.The bleaching system used was efficient in bleaching teeth with white blemishes due to fluorosis, thus masking the blemishes and providing a more uniform appearance.
Mucocele is a common oral mucosal lesion, but it is rarely observed in the infant. The aim of this study is to present the case report of a 1-year-old male patient, with a mucocele of the lower lip, describing the clinical characteristics and surgical treatment performed under local anesthesia with no recurrence observed after nine months follow-up, and also to show the histological features of this benign oral lesion. true cyst as it is lined with epithelium. This type of cyst appears to be caused by epithelial proliferation of a partially obstructed salivary duct, which becomes unable to adequately drain the produced saliva, leading to ductal dilatation and swelling 1). The mucus retention phenomenon was the second most common lesion from 5,457 biopsies of patients, 0-16 years of age, received over 15 years at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry 5). The most common site of occurrence of mucocele is the lower lip 6-10) , the lesion has no sex predilection 9,10) and all age groups are susceptible, with the peak frequency reported to be in the second and third decades 6-10). Although the lesion has no age predilection, it is rarely observed in infants 11,12) and few cases were reported in the literature 12-14). Prognosis is favorable and several treatments have been proposed in the literature, such as excision of the lesion associated or not with removal of the gland involved 4,12,13,15-17) , marsupialization 16,18,19) , cryosurgery 20) , laser 21) and micro-marsupialization 22). Rai et al. 23) proposed a novel method by injecting an ultraflow rubber base impression material into a mucocele on the ventral surface of the tongue which showed a clear demarcated limit of the lesion making the surgical excision easier.
