Convenient One-Pot Synthesis of Chromone Derivatives and Their Antifungal and Antibacterial Evaluation. -The title compounds (III) are obtained in one-pot via esterification of 2-hydroxyacetophenones (I) with various aliphatic or aromatic acid chlorides (II) and subsequent Baker-Venkataraman rearrangement. Some compounds show significant activity against plant pathogenic fungi. Moreover, derivative (IIIb) displays activity against a methicillin-resistant strain of S. aureus. -(ABDEL GHANI*, S.
