Fever is among the most common symptoms which lead parents and their children to the pediatrician. The most common cause of fever in children is acute infection (bacterial or viral). However, sometimes fever can be the manifestation of much more serious diseases. C-reactive protein is a marker widely used in clinical pediatric practice which helps to decide if any antibiotic treatment is needed or not. The authors present 3 case reports of children with fever from the pediatric emergency department, when the result unmeasurable capillary C-reactive protein was one of the clues in the diagnosis of severe hematology pathologies.

Pediatrická klinika 2. LF UK a FN v Motole, Praha Vyšetření krevního tlaku je neinvazivní, levné a jednoduché vyšetření. Lze jej provést snadno v ambulanci praktického lékaře, stejně tak je k dispozici široká škála přístrojů na domácí měření. Krevní tlak by měl být měřen nejen při preventivních prohlídkách, ale měl by se stát standardní součástí fyzikálního vyšetření. V tomto sdělení prezentujeme pacienta se sekundární hypertenzí, kterou diagnostikoval jako první dětský neurolog.Klíčová slova: hypertenze, obstrukční nefropatie, pyeloplastika. Don´t forget to measure patient´sblood pressure!The blood pressure measuring is non-invasive, cheap and simple examination. It may be done very easily in general pediatrician´soffice. Also there are plenty of devices available for home measuring. The blood pressure measurements should not only be part of preventive check-ups but should be included in full physical examination. We present apatient with secondary hypertension who was diagnosed by pediatric neurologist.
