A Useful Approach Towards δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol.-Condensation reaction of cis-p-menth-2-ene-1,8-diol (I) with olivetol ( II) gives 6,12-dihydro-6-hydroxycannabidiol (III). Purification of this compound followed by ring closure yields δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (IV) in high purity. -(STOSS, P.; MERRATH, P.; Synlett (1991) 8, 553-554; Chem. Res. 150ChemInform Abstract Acylation of 1,4:3,6-dianhydro-D-glucitol (I) with the anhydrides (II) in the presence of lead(II) yields the 5-endo-acylates (III) as the main products, whereas on heating without a catalyst, predominantly the 2-exo-acylates (IV) are formed. (IR-data).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
