A marketing analysis of Czech consumers' behaviour when buying honey is discussed from the viewpoint of price, origin, honey type, crystallized sugar, and organic quality aspect. The surveyed target groups of honey consumers, who are examined also with respect to their education level, are from Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. The original premise of this research was the hypothesis that, when buying honey, customers focus primarily on its price and type. This hypothesis was verified by conjoint analysis. The results have shown that consumers are interested primarily in the price and origin of honey. An important parameter for buying honey is its (non)crystallization. Although it does not affect objective quality parameters of honey, it affects the consumers' subjective perception of honey quality during purchase. Two clusters of honey consumers emerged through cluster analysis: the first cluster focussing on the origin, type, and price/sugar crystallization of honey, and the second interested in the origin, price, and quality of organic honey.
The main aim of this paper is to introduce a new certified applied methodology for Assessing Suppliers in Agri-Food Complex as a tool for company competitiveness. The work is based on the results obtained in the research project NAZV QG60148/2005 funded by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture and on the requirements of agricultural practice. The novelty lies in the use of practices of the worldwide respected GLOBALG.A.P. standard (formerly EUREPGAP) as yet not well known in our country. Based on the practical experience of the authors with the application of food safety standards in the food manufacturing industry and application of GLOBALG. A.P. standard in agricultural primary production, risk and hazard analysis was developed for the product group of fruit and vegetables. Subsequently, a checklist was designed for the implementation of the suppliers’ audit. The result is a methodology for food manufacturers based on the identification of sources of risks in primary production, which can threaten food safety. As part of the introduced methodology are proposed methodological criteria for evaluating suppliers of fruit and vegetables, including rating scales and the possibilities of its implementation. Different variations of the introduction of this approach are discussed from the management, time, and financial viewpoints. The use of this procedure in practice aims to reduce the likelihood of hygiene and health hazards of the basic input raw material according to the principles of the certified standards and thus strengthen the competitiveness of a given manufacturer on the market
The study identifies the main beer consumption determinants in the Czech Republic and quantifies their influence on the beer consumption. The analysis covers three areas – identification of the main determinants of Czech beer consumption, quantification of the influence of these factors on beer consumption, and examination of beer consumption forecasting possibilities. Time series of selected variables containing annual data of the 1994–2014 period are analysed. The main determinants are defined in accord with the general economic theory, their influence is measured using an econometric model, and quality of the model for prognostic purposes is verified using an ex-post prognosis. Based on empirical analysis, the price of lager beer, income, and influence of financial crisis were determined as the main determinants of Czech beer consumption. In addition, inelastic reaction of beer consumption on their changes was proven. The estimated model may be considered suitable for prognostic purposes. The Czech beer market and/or beer consumption in the examined period can be considered as specific, but stable.
Eurasia represents an important economic region for the majority of the post-Soviet republics. The structure of their economies is highly dissimilar and reflects the status of agriculture. The aim of the paper is to analyse the relation between agriculture index and GDP per capita Using the basic economic indicators in agriculture (contribution of agriculture to GDP, share of employment in agriculture, agriculture value added per worker and share of rural population) as well as the cluster analysis, the countries were divided into four groups. There are sub-groups within the post-Soviet republics, differing considerably in the status of agriculture in their national economy. A negative correlation between GDP per capita (PPP) and the level of the agriculture index has been proved in the monitored countries.
Research background: The classic explanation about the structure of economies stipulates that, as societies advance, their economy gradually shifts towards the tertiary sector where the added value is the highest. While this logic proved to be empirically true during the last centuries, it nonetheless comes with significant issues in the long run. The need for manufactured products, which is constantly growing due to global economic development and a growing population, must still be addressed by an industrial base around. This leaves only two options open: 1. Some countries have to lag behind the rest of the world in terms of global economic development or 2. Developed countries will have to devote part of their labor and capital investment to (re) building capable industrial capacity. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to point out the influence of globalization on the position of production structures in the context of the global crisis. Methods: Comparative method, definition of the object of comparison and determination of the goal of comparison and determination of criteria for own analysis of relevant sources, induction, deduction, generalization. Findings & Value added: The only way to maintain enough industrial capacity to answer the demand in a globalized world without having some countries lagging behind will be to redistribute the production capabilities among the countries. This would make the economic playfield more even and would also have several side benefits regarding global environmental and political issues including unexpected crises such as pandemic period coronavirus.
