Purpose: Based on the analysis of the behavior in financial management (BFM) of a group of doctors who graduated from the State of Bahia, we investigated the differences in behavior in personal finances based on some demographic variables. Methodology:In the population study, we used the Financial Management Behavior Scale (FMBS), plus demographic questions and scores tostratify and quantify the sample's BFM. Findings:The comparison between the BFM of the different generations was not statistically relevant, possibly pointing to the changes that have been taking place both in medical demography and society. We found a statistically significant difference between the BFM in terms of gender and when we analyzed the profile of participation in the household's income about insurance adherence. Social implications: The relativelylow total score of the BFM in the population studied is worrying and allows us to predict more alarming results for Brazilian demography.
