Dengue is a common pathogenic disease often proving fatal, more commonly affecting the tropics. Aedes mosquito is the vector for this disease, and outbreaks of dengue often cause mass damage to life. The current review is an effort to present an insight into the causes, etiology, symptoms, transmission, diagnosis, major organs affected, mitigation and line of treatment of this disease with special emphasis on drugs of natural origin. The disease has a potential to spread as an endemic, often claiming several lives and thus requires concerted efforts to work out better treatment options. Traditional medicine offers an alternative solution and could be explored as a safer treatment option. Development of a successful vaccine and immunization technique largely remains a challenge and a better antiviral approach needs to be worked out to complement the supportive therapy. No single synthetic molecule has found to be wholly effective enough to offer curative control and the line of treatment mostly utilizes a combination of fluid replacement and antipyretics-analgesics like molecules to provide symptomatic relief.
Coronaviruses have led to severe emergencies in the world since the outbreak of SARS CoV in 2002, followed by MERS CoV in 2012. SARS CoV-2, the novel pandemic caused by coronaviruses that began in December 2019 in China has led to a total of 24066076 confirmed cases and a death toll of 823572 as reported by World Health Organisation on 26 August, 2020, spreading to 213 countries and territories. However, there are still no vaccines or medications available till date against SARS coronaviruses which is an urgent requirement to control the current pandemic like situations. Since many decades, heterocyclic scaffolds have been explored exhaustively for their anticancer, antimalarial, anti-inflammatory, antitubercular, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, antiviral and many more treatment capabilities. Therefore, through this review, we have tried to emphasize on the anticipated role of heterocyclic scaffolds in the design and discovery of the much-awaited anti-SARS CoV-2 therapy, by exploring the research articles depicting different heterocyclic moieties as targeting SARS, MERS and SARS CoV-2 coronaviruses. The heterocyclic motifs mentioned in the review can serve as crucial resources for the development of SARS coronaviruses treatment strategies.
During the global pandemic, e-learning became even more popular and used by many educational institutions worldwide to facilitate the students' learning process. Students can easily get the related materials and resources from e-learning. This research intends to examine the level of students’ satisfaction with e-learning and their learning experiences during the global pandemic. The quantitative research method was carried out using a questionnaire survey and online research. A total of 150 students from different institutions in India and Malaysia have participated in the survey. The survey was carried out through Google Form and the data were exported to be analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that most of the students were satisfied with e-learning and how it helped them in their studies. The results of this study indicated that convenience flexibility was significantly related to students’ learning experiences.
Various chemical compounds with natural dietary origins have been shown to protect against age-related disorders, such as neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Such substances are known as nutraceuticals, and they differ structurally, function at distinct biochemical and metabolic levels, and have various neuroprotective characteristics. In this review, we analyzed the evidence from explanatory studies on the effects of selected nutritional supplements on age-related cognitive decline and dementia in humans, randomized clinical trials, and clinical trials. We provide findings from research on vitamins, flavonoids, and other natural compounds that have been researched in AD and may be useful for maintaining excellent cognitive function. In dementia-related therapy, nutraceuticals are not a choice due to a severe absence of high-quality research studies. Despite this, the significant potential for their neuroprotective effects discourages future research.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
