Her peripheral blood count was normal and there was no evidence of generalized lymphadenopathy. Trichomonas organisms were noted on a pre-operative high vaginal swab. Postoperatively she developed a pelvic abscess which was treated with laparotomy and drainage as well as appropriate antibiotic therapy. She subsequently made an uneventful recovery and remains well a year later.
