This study examines the environmental literacy abilities of prospective Biology teacher students in the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP Sriwijaya University. The research subjects are Palembang and Indralaya class students who are teaching Human and Environmental Sciences Courses for the 2019/2020 academic year in Semester II. The skills measured in this study are Environmental Knowledge, Environmental Competence and Attitudes towards the environment formulated by the OECD and NAEE. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, with research subjects totaling 75 students. The technique of collecting data is through interviews, and surveys using an instrument sheet consisting of 20 multiple choice questions, 20 essays and 20 attitude scales. The data analysis technique used the SPSS 18 program. The test instrument used was modified from the Middle Schools Environment Survey/Instrument (MSELS/I) test questions and adapted to the physical conditions and environmental problems in the city of Palembang. The results showed that the prospective Biology teacher students were in the medium category for the Environmental Knowledge and Competence aspect, and got the high category for Environmental Attitudes.
Abstract. The study provides experimental results and numerical results concerning anaerobic digestion of fruit and vegetable waste. Experiments were carried out by using batch floating drum type digester without mixing and temperature setting. The retention time was 30 days. Numerical results based on Monod type model with influence of temperature is introduced. Initial value problems were analyzed numerically, while kinetic parameters were analyzed by using trial error methods. The numerical results for the first five days seems appropriate in comparison with the experimental outcomes. However, numerical results shows that the model is inappropriate for 30 days of fermentation. This leads to the conclusion that Monod type model is not suitable for describe the mixture degradation of fruit and vegetable waste and horse dung.
Batch experiments with fruit and vegetable waste and sludge from biogas plant as the feedstock were conducted in this study. Mathematical models are introduced here to explain the anaerobic processes, and some unknown parameters were determined by solving inverse problems numerically. Numerical results were compared with the experimental outcomes. We conclude that the results only show for situation where there is no inhibition by intermediate compounds such as volatile fatty acids.
Buildings contribute more than 40% of world energy consumption, so it is feared that it will cause energy problems in thefuture, especially in the construction sector. One solution to reducing this problem is by analyzing energy use at the initialdesign stage and utilizing solar energy as one of the solar power plants (PLTS) in office buildings. To analyze the use ofenergy in buildings, Building Information Modeling (BIM) was used. The purpose of this research is to analyze the annualenergy level of office buildings in Palembang using BIM software, namely Autodesk Revit. The number of solar panels aswell as the amount of energy were also identified using web-based software (HelioScope) resulting the economic feasibilityas indicated by the installation of solar panels as a component of PV mini-grid. The results showed that the use of BIMtechnology in analyzing building energy can provide a detailed description of the building model at the design stage. Revitanalysis indicates that the building consumed electrical energy per year for about 3,647,713 kWh with a roof area of 1,657m2. In addition, based on the HelioScope analysis, the use of renewable energy from the installation of PLTS was 152,900kWh/year. Meanwhile, for economic feasibility analysis, the installation of PLTS in office buildings can provide a positive NetPresent Value (NPV), indicating a feasible project.
Research on Fabrication of Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) by Using Emulsion Method as an Alternative Material For Vehicle Bumper Protector aims to produce of the thermoplastic elastomers by emulsion method with variation of composition ratio of polypropylene grafting and Maleic Anhydride (PP-g-MA)(mL) : latex (mL) : glycerin, to have strong tensile strength results according to British Plastic Federation standard 0.5 – 2.4 (N/mm2) standard for bumper material elongation maximum of 22.62%. Emulsion method was used as sample preparation which is grafting polypropylene (PP) with Maleate Anhydride (MA) then continued with PP-g-MA Emulsion Making and Natural Rubber Latex Density. The observation technique of the test is done by FTIR PP-g-MA analysis, stability test, TPE visual analysis, TPE surface morphology using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) tool and TPE tensile strength test. The results of FTIR analysis is that the samples closest to the carbonyl value of C = O with the highest absorption were without glycerine samples 1703.48 cm-1 with the absorption of 94.84% and carbonyl C-O 1219 cm-1 with the absorption of 95.19%. The stability testing of density values reaches the standard of the Plastic Federation of 0.91 - 1.30 g/mL, for samples having the highest and stable density values up to the seventh day of observation is a sample of PP-g-MA: Latex (75:25) which is 1.059 g/mL. In the SEM test on the PP-g-MA sample: Latex (75:25) with a average diameter pores size of 1.408 μm and the smallest diameter pore size of 0.728 μm. The highest value of tensile strength occurred in the sample with the comparison of PP-g-MA: Latex (75:25) 1,175 N/mm2 and a maximum elongation of 22.62%.
