Urbanization is playing a key role in big cities of developing countries, which, in effect, is increasing the population. This study takes care of the mega infrastructure project (Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT)) to explore and identify the H&S (Health and Safety) factors that affect the local residents and the main key stakeholders working on the project. A Sequential Mixed-Method approach of the OLMT-project includes qualitative and quantitative methods were adopted. The data have been collected from the targeted population working on the OLMT-project through a questionnaire. The main key finding of the study indicates that poor planning and a lack of communication between the public and government led to frustration. The most significant factors that identified in the study were unsafe to work practice, project scope constraints, lack in technical and material support, unsafe/bad condition, health/environment degradation, declination and loss of resources and time, no proper emergency system, and negligence in adopting safety rules and laws. The study also revealed that the consensus should also be noticed between the key stakeholders (e.g., contractors, clients, safety officials, academia) in the second round of the Delphi survey of the project. The study findings will help the key stakeholders to prioritize their energies towards attaining zero levels of inadequate health and safety practices in infrastructure projects. The study outcomes can also be generalized for the other developing countries having a similar work scenario.
Purpose The philosophy of the conservation resource theory, this paper aims to evaluate the relationship between humble leadership on project success by integrating the mediating role of psychological empowerment and the interacting effect of top management support on the direct relationship (humble leadership and project success), as well as indirect relationships through psychological empowerment. Design/methodology/approach Time lag data were gained from 337 persons working in the project-based organization across the information technology industry. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling were used in this study. Findings By using the structural equation modelling method, the confirmatory factor analysis verified the uniqueness of the variable used in this research. The outcomes exhibited that humble leadership raised project success both directly and indirectly through mediation (psychological empowerment). Furthermore, Top management support was expected to have a moderating effect on the direct but not on the indirect relationship (via psychological empowerment). Originality/value This study demonstrates how top management support is essential for the project manager and project team members for the successful execution of the project. Particularly, minimal empirical research examines the interacting effect of top management support on humble leadership and employee psychological empowerment.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the Belt and Road Initiative is one of the most notable collaborations (BRI) through the use of networks of roads, highways, and railroads, CPEC seeks to link China and Pakistan with the rest of the globe. CPEC will provide opportunities for the growth of the energy industry, rail and road infrastructure, and other areas. Since the bulk of the research focuses on the difficulties connected with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the goal of this study is to examine the beneficial effects of this project, particularly for Pakistan (CPEC). To evaluate the contribution of CPEC to Pakistan's sustainable economic growth, this research evaluates the relevant literature. This research suggests that the CPEC is an ambitious development project since it requires a more extensive reorganization of Pakistan's economy. In addition to generating significant amounts of foreign direct investment for Pakistan, this project will also provide China access to a new market, which will increase its trade potential. This analysis found that the CPEC would boost regional connectivity, solve energy shortages, expand infrastructure, and foster people-to-people ties in both nations, all of which will assist to boost the tourist industry.
Feminism plays a vital role in the workplaces around the globe and resulted in increased productivity due to the development of modern employment culture opted by successful organizations in the biosphere. This study is intended to examine the impact of feminism on development of modern employment culture of five multinational companies in Pakistan. Total 250 questionnaires were distributed and 200 respondents filled the questionnaire and response rate was eighty percent. By application of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), descriptive statistics, correlation among variables, one-way ANNOVA and multiple regression analysis were carried out on the compiled data and concluded on the impact of selected independent variables including mental health, career fulfilment, equality and adversity on modern employment culture. The results showed that all the variables were significantly correlated to each other and had positive correlations. The regression analysis showed that there was a significant relationship among the independent and dependent variables. In spite of advances for women in the modern employment culture, a few elements keep on contrarily sway women's' feeling of prosperity at work. These components incorporate gender discernment, gender job requirements, a male ruled work environment, and inflexibility. This section will survey ways a women's activist point of view may help them in the working environment by giving a challenge to contemporary role, giving a setting for segregation, and giving a feeling of competency in dealing with the workplace, maybe prompting a more noteworthy in general feeling of prosperity. In conclusion, utilizing the women's activist point of view, the section closes with certain suggestions for improving the work environment for women.
