The elastic modulus of graded gravel material has a paricular characteristics of nonliner. The objective of this study is to discusses the performance of graded gravel roadbase in freeway pavement using KENLAYER computer program. Asphalt Institute (AI) and Shell design methods have been considered using equivalent standard axle load (ESAL) and spectrum of axle methods of incorporating traffic for the design period. Design life in years is determined using fatigue cracking models and rutting models in KENLAYER computer program, which is feasible in the life forecast of graded gravel roadbase. It is beneficial to graded gravel roadbase′s popularization and application in freeway pavement.
Internal friction behavior of a porous CuAlMn shape memory alloy was examined. Two internal friction peaks appear at around 350 oC and 380 oC during the first heating process in the as-quenched specimen, but they disappear during the second or more heating process. Two other internal friction peaks are found at around 150 oC and 325 oC from the second heating process. Correlated mechanisms of the peaks are discussed.
Based on the overhaul structure of actual asphalt pavement, establishes the finite element model and analyses the shear stress in the state of overload, longitudinal slope and contact coefficient. The result is that the load and the gradient of longitudinal slope larger, the influence of rutting more seriously. The growth of shear stress is larger which brought by adding load on steep longitudinal slope than that of adding on longitudinal slope. The contact coefficient of interlayer α larger the maximum shear stress larger, on the contrary, the contact coefficient of interlayer α smaller the maximum shear stress smaller.
