In this current era of technology, the use of online-based learning media that suits the needs of students can improve their learning skills, so teachers need to know the media criteria that must be applied to attract students' learning interests and those materials can be well received by students. Quizizz is one of those quiz-shaped and 4.0-based apps which is already popular among higher education. Quizizz can be used to train reading skills, especially students in English because in the application many features allow students to enhance their reading interest. The purpose of this study is that researchers will identify the influence of the Quizizz application on students' reading ability. The method used in this study was experimental. The instrument used is a test sheet. For data collection techniques conducted is to conduct a pre-test at the beginning of learning and a post-test at the end of learning, so that it can be seen the influence of the application of Quizizz application, in this case, improve students' English reading skills.
English Proficiency Test (EPT) has been utilized widely to measure the skills of English learners. On the other hand, each test has its challenges and uniqueness. This current research aims to investigate the specific problem encountered by English language learners during English Proficiency Test (EPT) in Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik. The problem is specific to listening where a lot of learners frequently have difficulties. Participants of this study are 30 Learners from the English education department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik from the 3rd to the 5th semester. The result reveals that among the common challenges in listening skills in EPT, the most frustrating barrier is the occurrence of unfamiliar words, including jargon and idioms. There are 60% who agree that it is the most challenging part, while only 3.3% do not. It may happen as Idioms will be extremely hard for several students since idioms are similar to describe a genuine position regardless theportray of other situations with different meanings. The following research is encouraged to investigate other aspects of English skills in the EPT and more participants to discover the appropriate method to tackle the barriers.
The pandemic situation of COVID-19 has damaged various aspects, including education. Distance learning becomes the substitute to facilitate teaching-learning, especially in rural areas. It uses television as a teaching medium to tackle the internet connection problem. Television has been used for a long time and used for entertainment purposes. However, educators start to add educational purposes, especially to learn a language. Unfortunately, television was only an additional teaching tool and was not used thoroughly. This research aims to observe the teacher's perspective of Distance Learning Television (DLTV) to teach speaking, particularly in a rural area, Thailand. The subject research is two English teachers who teach primary school in Thailand, and they use DLTV as the teaching media. The result showed that teachers have a positive perspective on DLTV as a teaching medium, especially in speaking. It contains benefits that can support students in their speaking comprehension. Furthermore, teachers have the role of facilitators and encourage students during the learning process. Despite the drawback of DLTV, it is still be taken care of by teachers by collaborative work with colleagues
