Two cadmium(II) iodide complexes, [Cd(Detu) 2 I 2 ] (1) and [Cd(Diaz) 2 I 2 ] (2) (Detu = N,N 0 -diethylthiourea; Diaz = 1,3-diazinane-2-thione) have been prepared and their structures been determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structures show that both complexes are mononuclear with the cadmium atom coordinated to two iodide ions and two thione ligands adopting a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Whereas, 2 exists as discrete monomeric species, the structure of 1 consists of three crystallographically independent molecules. The complexes were also characterized by IR and NMR ( 1 H and 13 C) spectroscopy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
