EXTENSION PROGRAM EVALUATION IN CATTLE FARM BUSINESS AROUND INONSAYANG DISTRICT, SOUTH MINAHASA REGENCY. Sinonsayang district is located in the regency of South Minahasa consisted of 13 villages and area size of 12,960 ha. Generally, Sinonsayang communities were living as farmers / ranchers. The highest populations of cattle were focused in 3 villages around Sinonsayang district including Blongko Village, Ongkaw II and III Villages (296 cattle). The problem of this study was how far the success of extension program in terms of improving education of BP3K for cattle population in the district of Sinonsayang, South Minahasa Regency. The objective of this study was to evaluate the implementation of extension activities around Sinonsayang district, South Minahasa regency. The research was conducted in January to February, 2014 using survey method at the 3 sampling villages with the highest cattle population. The respondents were farmers and ranchers who were randomly targeted for outreach assigned to 30 people (respondents). Research and data collection were done during 2 months. The data in this study were obtained from two sources (primary data and secondary data). Method of purposive sampling was done intentionally. The use of this technique was based on certain characteristics obtained through the population. The results in this study indicated that the extension was not successfully and effectively done by BP3K, because the extension service can only reach few numbers of breeders. BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF RETAIL TRADERS AT BEEF TRADITIONAL MARKET IN MANADO. The experiment was conducted at beef traditional market in Manado, particularly at “Bersehati Jengki market region” and “Pinasungkulan Ranotana market region”. The problem in this study is how much the operating costs retailers spent in beef marketing activity and how much the benefit of beef marketing activity received by retailers when compared with the bank interest rate level. The purpose of the study was to find out the operating cost spent by retailers compared with the benefit in beef marketing activity in Manado traditional markets. Sources of data in this study were found from the primary and secondary data. The samples were taken using purposive sampling method. Data analysis model in this study were conducting by descriptive analysis approach and mathematical analysis aswell as the concept of profitability. The results of the study showed that the average operating costs used by retailers in beef marketing were Rp 60,000,258 per week or Rp 239,990,725 per month. The average amount of the benefits received by retailers in beef marketing were Rp14,822,681 per week or Rp 3,703,093 per month. Enterprises of beef retailers in Manado traditional markets were able to gain the benefit. This business is also able to achieve the better overall profitability value compared with the bank rate prevailing in Indonesia. The average value of profitability of beef retailers was 7.01% per month (84.16% per year) while the bank rate of Indonesia (SBBI) was 7.5%.Keywords: Profit, Retailers, Beef, Traditional Market, Manado
RELATIONSHIP BEWEEN ECONOMICAL SOCIAL FACTOR AND HOUSEHOLD PERSEPTION ON DAIRY FARM DEVELOPMENT IN TOMOHON MUNICIPALITY. Dairy farm development was importantly connected with household farmer. Each household farmer had different economical social background. The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between economical social factor and household perception on dairy farm development in Tomohon municipality.This study was conducted at four districts in Tomohon municipality using thirty respondents of household farmers. Samples were determined by purposive sampling method involving three districts. Primer secunder data were used in this study. Results showed that household farmers at ages of 43 to 54 years old were 40 percents. The education period of the animal household was ranging from 12 to 16 years (46.7%). The experiemces as animal household of dairy cattle were ranging from 2 to 3 years. The frequency attending extension and skill training were ranging from 1 to 2 times (76.6 %), and 90 percents of animal household had income from Rp. 1,350,000 to Rp. 3,499,800 per month. Perseptions of animal household on dairy farm development in Tomohon municipality were generally good. Period of animal farm highly correlated with the perception household farmer in development of dairy farm in Tomohon municipality.
