Since 1943 a number of experimental papers have appeared dealing with an effect called "psychokinesis." In a typical experiment, one or more gaming dice were thrown, mechanically or otherwise, while S wished the dice to come to rest with certain faces or combinations of faces uppermost. Under some conditions, with certain Ss, the dice favored the desired faces to a statistically significant degree. The effect was found to persist after the introduction of safeguards, including the use of a motor-driven cage to avoid direct human contact with the dice.In the preparation of the early experimental data for publication, an unusual distribution of scores was noticed. It was found that S's scoring rate tended to drop off quickly after the beginning of an experimental session, but was raised by any short rest period or interruption during the session. Such scoring declines have

ABSTRACTThe half wave dipole is the fundamental antenna used in the calibration of open field test sites. Coupling among the antennas and their images causes a change in antenna center impedance, resulting in a correction of several decibels in the site attenuation model. A derivation of the method of calculating the effect of the coupled impedances is given here along with a discussion of the correlations between the mathematical model and measurements on 3 meter ranges.
In the described instrument ten-microsecond, 30-Mc carrier pulses reflected from a resonant layer allow a theoretical precision of 0.1 percent in making velocity determinations while using less than 0.1 cc of test liquid. By the same technique, ultrasonic absorption can be measured in highly dissipative liquids using layers about 0.1 mm thick. Water velocities observed at 30 Mc are presented along with values by others in the range of 0° to 93°C. V = 1554−0.0305(68.4−T)2 is proposed as the best empirical parabola to accommodate the available data, and an additional cubic correction formula is suggested.
A new method for determination of fiee space antenna factor on an open area test site is described here. This method avoids two sources of error that are present in the ANSI C63.5-1998 procedure, and simplifies the measurement process by eliminating the receiving antenna height scan. In addition, a new method of computing the m-1 coupling correction &or is presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
