The study was aimed at analyzing adaptation methods practiced by farmers’ and determining factors for adoption to climate change in the Andhra Pradesh (Zone-1 and Zone-6). A cross sectional household survey (by employing structured interview schedule), participant observations and focused PRA were conducted to collect the information on adaptation methods being practiced by 320 randomly selected farmers. The study employed descriptive statistics to types of adaptation measures exercised to cope up with the risk of the change in climate. The study also employed the multinomial logit regression to analyze the determinants of adaptation method extracted. Factors such as age, education, number of crops cultivated, use of new technology, extension participation, contact and farmer’s commitment are the common determinants for adoption of practices.
Globally, precipitation trend analysis in different space and time has great impact on crop-planning activities. To get accurate unbiased results a long-term climate analysis of a particular area required in large variability in both spatially, temporally. For sustainable crop production long term weather analysis act as vital role in alternation of existing cropping patterns. This study aimed at analysing the trend of rainfall events in Prakasam district of Andhra state of India the data consists of annual precipitation time series from 1991-2019. Initially study concerns with analysis of data base using descriptive statistics, later trend change was detected by using non parametric tests. The results indicate an increased trend in June and monsoon season, with a decreased trend in July and winter season at 5% level of significance.
The production and marketing of rice cultivation have been studied in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh during 2018-19. Tools such as costs and returns, marketing margins, input use efficiency, marketing margins and price spread were used for the study. The results have shown that the Benefit-Cost ratiois 1.05. The input use efficiency has shown a negative significance for chemical fertilizers, pesticides and seed rate. The price spread analysis has shown that the producers receive 27% of the consumer price. Marketing margin for the adopted marketing channel was worked out by comparing the prices prevailing at each stage of marketing. Since used prices were related to a particular point of time and as small concurrent margins were also worked out.
