The data were collected from different public records of State Governments, Cooperatives and Private institutions. The compound growth rate of area, production and productivity of major crops were calculated at different periods. Therefore, present study indicated that whether the rate of development had been uniform or whether their was any imbalance in Amravati division. There was reduction in area and production under total cereals and cotton in Amravati district. Reduction in area under total cereals was also observed in Buldhana, Akola and Yavatmal district. Area under total food grain was found significantly increasing in Buldhana, Akola and Yavatmal district. There was a positive growth in productivity of cereals, pulses oilseeds food grain and cotton. Area and production of cotton was observed more in Yavatmal district. The production of total food grain was observed more stable in Amravati district.
The study has assessed the economic analysis and impact assessment of production technology of paddy cultivation in Konkan region of Maharashtra for the year 2013-14, based on the data of costs and returns of crop. Apart from benefit-cost ratio (BCR), yield gap analysis, resource use efficiencies, adoption index and impact of improved paddy technology have been estimated in the study. It has shown that the per hectare cost 'C' was Rs. 49,393.85 and BCR is 1.41, whereas, the per quintal cost production was Rs. 1,069.78 at the overall level for improved paddy cultivation methods. Further, there was a 16.59 per cent yield gap between actual yield and demonstration plot yield, in which cultural practices (11.58) have shown a stronger effect than input use (5.01). The composite index of technology adoption was worked out to 67.46 per cent indicated that the sample farmers adopted less than 30 per cent recommended paddy production technology and obtained 36.65 q/ha yield. The contribution of different components on impact of paddy production technology in Kokan region, net returns was maximum (44.22%) followed by gross returns and main produce. The most important constraint in improved method of paddy cultivation has been identified as 'high cost of seed, fertilizers and labour charges, lack of knowledge about fertilizers application, seed treatment small fragmented holding and low price to produce. The improved paddy production technology method being more skill oriented, the study has observed that yields can be made on adoption and impact sustainable if constraints are addressed on war-footing basis.
The credit plays an important role in agriculture sector. The Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies (PACS) form the basic foundation of cooperative credit system essential for farming community. PACS organized, managed and benefitted by member farmers. Credit Societies at all India level are 95238 with total membership consist of 1305.47 lakhs. The financial institutions directly associated with agricultural finance at grass root level in the State are Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Societies (PACS) which provide short-term crop loans to their cultivator members. Kolhapur is district is agriculturally progressive district. The capital intensive sugarcane crop is the major crop contributes around 25 per cent share in total cropping pattern of the district. PACS plays an important role to provide timely credit to the farming community. Present study was conducted with to the growth in physical performance indicators of PACS, to estimate the growth in financial performance indicators of PACS and to examine the cropwise loan disbursement by PACS in the district. The study concluded that the number of PACS and membership of PACS has increased marginally but the loan advanced by them increased tremendously in Maharashtra during last 50 years. The short term loan disbursed by PACS in Maharashtra contributed more than 84 per cent in total loan disbursement. Karveer tahsil has maximum number of PACS and maximum number of members of PACS in Kolhapur district. The share capital, working capital, loan disbursement and loan outstanding has increased during the year 2019 over the year 2019 in all tahsils in the district. The loan for sugarcane crop contributed more than 97 per cent of total loan disbursement by DCCB through PACS during the period under study and recorded significant CAGR 4.55 per cent per annum. The loan advances through PACS were increased significantly in the District. The PACS from Karveer tahsil recorded positive growth for last five years in all physical and financial indicators and showed better performance than PACS from Kagal tahsil.
