The mechanical and the low cycle fatigue (LCF) properties of cold-drawn AISI 1018 steel (CDS 1018) with and without hot-dip aluminizing (HDA) coating had been experimentally investigated at room temperature. The tensile properties and the LCF properties were determined from tensile test results and cyclic strain-fatigue test results, respectively. The aluminide coating on the CDS 1018 significantly decreases the mechanical properties and the strain-fatigue life of the steel. With increasing in strain amplitude levels, CDS 1018 experienced continuously cyclic softening behaviour after cyclic loading in few cycles. By contrast, the cyclic softening of HDA steel was observed in few cycles and HDA steel continuously exhibits the stably cyclic hardening behaviour until failure. CDS 1018 with aluminide coating results the longer transition fatigue cycles (Nt) than those of CDS 1018 without aluminide coating by a factor of ∼3.0. CDS 1018 with HDA coating can be used for material components which the components are safely designed under cyclic loading below the yield strength of the material.
Purpose: This service activity for BUMDes Alam Sentosa, Kurungan Nyawa Village, aims to provide an overview of the development and management of BUMDes which functions as a driving force for the village economy. Method: Methods of instruction, guidance, and assessment are employed in this operation. Results: The findings of this program provide a process that is carried out by a person in managing activities carried out by individuals or groups. The system or management must be carried out to meet the targets to be achieved by the individual or group in a collaboration by optimizing existing resources. Conclusions: The service activity of mentoring BUMDes Alam Sentosa in Kurungan Nyawa Village went well and offered a stimulus in the form of motivation for BUMDes Alam Sentosa in carrying out its businesses, both those that were carried out and those that were not. The presence of a formal organization authorized by the Ministry of Villages is supposed to assist BUMDes Alam Sentosa's access to doing business and working with companies. Limitations: The limitation of this service is the implementation time. Contribution: This service can be useful for the BUMDes Alam Sentosa, rural communities, and the economy of the confinement village. Keywords: 1. The flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams with high strength material layers in the compression zone was observed. The compression zone of the beams was filled with high strength material to increase the ductility of the beams. Three control beams and three beams with high strength compression layer were tested until failure. The tested beams were simply supported and loaded with a four-point bending mechanism. The test variable in this study was the ratio of longitudinal reinforcement (1%, 1.5%, and 2.5%). The test results show that the ductility of beams with high strength material in the compression zone is significantly higher than the control beams. However, the flexural capacity of beams with high strength materials is almost the same as the control beam. Theoretical prediction using finite element analysis also confirms that beams with high strength material in the compression zone show higher ductility.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
