This report describes engineering-scale in situ vitrification(ISV) electrode tests conductedby Pacific NorthwestLaboratory(PNL) for the U.S. Departmentof Energy (DOE). (a) The purposeof these tests was to establish baseline data to serve as a foundationon which to improvethe design of standard rd graphite rod electrodes, which are currentlyused in all applications. Changes in electrodedesign are proposed as one method to increase ISV melt. depths that typicallyreach about 5 m.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
