Aust. J. Phys., 1983,36,617-31 The data on the forward reaction K -d --> Apn-at 700 MeV/c are compared with calculations using semi-phenomenological one-boson-exchange hyperon-nucleon potentials and KN --> nY amplitudes deduced from two-body data. This gives a new test of these potentials, since only the spin-triplet potentials are involved, in contrast with all other scattering data, which depend on a spin-weighted average of singlet and triplet contributions. However, this comparison does not yet provide an empirical distinction between Potential! of Brown et al. (1970) and Potential F of Nagels et al. (1979). The KN --> nI: and KN --> nA amplitudes interfere in this reaction, so that its analysis can yield new knowledge of them; the present work requires a phase for the KN --> nA amplitude different by about -135° from that deduced from partial-wave analyses.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
