Measurements of lattice parameters and compositions for In1−xGaxAsyP1−y lattice matched to InP demonstrate the validity of Vegard’s law for this quaternary. The measured compositional dependence of the band gap shows a bowing parameter smaller than predicted from the previously measured band gaps of the four constituent ternaries.

Accurate lattice parameter, hydrostatic density and Curie temperature measurements have been made on lithium tantalate single crystals grown from different melt compositions. Crystal compositions were determined by comparing crystal Curie temperatures with those determined from well-reacted ceramic specimens of known composition. These measurements showed that a stoichiometric melt produces nonstoichiometric crystals and that the congruently melting composition is 49.0 mole % Li20. The resulting defect model for nonstoichiometric lithium tantalate is Litt-ts-n)xlTatt+x)nxe-03 where n--2 and the existence region is 46.0 to 50.4 mole % Li20 at room temperature.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
