The theoretical plasma density and confinement time for an electrostatically plugged spindle cusp experiment (R=0.16 m, Br=0.3 T, Bz=0.5 T) are compared with experimental data. The plasma is produced by injection of a 5 mA, 1 keV electron beam into H2 at 10−5 Torr. The electron density and confinement time, measured with a 20 GHz interferometer, are on the order of 2×1016 m−3 and 50 μsec.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
