Present sensor designs are critically examined and their commonly encountered problems are assessed. A sensor design is detailed and its performance characteristics are examined showing that the problems have either been eliminated or minimised.
The paper traces the origins of the relevant developments that have led to the emergence and contributed to the evolution of the solid-electrolyte oxygen sensor. Its main features are discussed in general, and a number of different sensor designs are then critically examined.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
