A new example of the A(m) phenotype is described. The red cells have a
very weak A status, best demonstrated by ‘immune’ anti-A sera using enzyme techniques.
The serum contains normal anti-B but no anti-A or A substance. The saliva contains A,
H and Le^a substances, but the A:H substance ratio was lower than normal, indicating
that the y y genes reduce the formation of secreted A as well as that of cellular A substance.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
