Bei der Photolyse der Titel Verbindung (I) in Benzol (oder Methanol, n‐Pentan, tert.‐Butanol) entsteht primär das Diradikal (II), das sich teils zu der anomeren Pyranosid‐ulose (III), teils unter Decarboxylierung zu den Furanosiden (IV) und dem Ether (V) stabilisiert.
