S 1. INTRODUCTIOK Ruthenium-106 is a radionuclide which is formed by nuclear fission of uranium. When uranium fuel elements, containing fission products, are removed from a nuclear reactor and dissolved in nitric acid for chemical processing, derivatives of nitrosyl-ruthenium (RuNO) are formed. These include both nitrato complexes, for example [RuNO (NO,), (HzO)2], and nitro complexes, such as [RuNO (NO,),(H,O), OH]. The composition of
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
