IntroductionBoth glow discharge treatment of polymer substrate surface and Ti underlayer are used for strong adhesive force of deposited films and for high reproduced voltage at short wavelength, when CO-Cr single layer media are fabricated by continuous vacuum deposition1,'. However, for higher productivity, it is desirable that both of them are done away with. In order to accomplish this purpose, we investigated the effect of ion beam treatment of polymer substrate surface on magnetic properties, adhesive force and recording performances.
