Frigates and destroyers of many navies are propelled by aero-derived gasturbines. World wide operation of these ships necessitates the availability of high quality fuel all over the globe. Thus in a modern destandardizing world a vulnerable expensive logistic system is required. There are some methods to ease the logistic problem, e.g. by implementing apparatus for the adaption of the gasturbine for multifuel operation. Particularly the installation of a compact rotating gasifier integrated in the cycle offers promising prospects.
