Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) is a worldwide concern; 22 may is remembered every year as the world preeclampsia day. According to the WHO, PIH is one of the main causes of maternal, fetal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. In a retrospective study over the period 2000-2009 in a tertiary center in India, PIH was the third cause of maternal death.
