The silver nanoparticles synthesized from Turbinaria ornata (To-AgNPs) showed spherical with crystalline nature (20-32 nm) was evaluated against fourth instar larvae of three mosquitoes. The maximum activity of To-AgNPs was recorded on Aedes aegypti followed by Anopheles stephensi and Culex quinquefasciatus with the following lethal concentration values (μg/ml): LC of 0.738, 1.134, and 1.494; and LC of 3.342, 17.982, and 22.475, respectively. The obtained respective values (μg/ml) vis-a-vis aqueous extract (To-AE) were: 2.767 and 40.577; 4.347 and 158.399, and 7.351 and 278.994. The findings revealed that To-AgNPs could form a base for the development of an eco-friendly, low-cost pesticide.
Diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia and is a major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke and is also responsible for lower limb amputation. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory efficacy of silver nanoparticles synthesized from brown alga, Sargassum wightii. The synthesized silver nanoparticles revealed spherical morphology with the size range of 18.45–41.59 nm. The green synthesized sliver nanoparticles of S. wightii were characterized through UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, zeta potential and by dynamic light scattering method. Presently, the enzyme inhibitory property of S. wightii-aqueous extract and synthesized silver nanoparticles of S. wightii against amylase and glucosidase was found to be 252.8 and , and 284.18 and , respectively. Similar trend of antioxidant activity have been recorded. The presently synthesized silver nanoparticle through green approach is an eco-friendly and cost effective one and it could form an effective pharmacological agent.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
