The anti-CMV and anti-Chl. pneumoniae antibodies were higher in early onset pre-eclampsia than in late onset pre-eclampsia, normotensive IUGR and normal pregnancy. This may provide a pathophysiological link between pre-eclampsia and the known increased risk for subsequent atherosclerosis.
