Nanotheranostics, an approach of combining both diagnosis and therapy, is one of the latest advances in cancer
therapy particularly. Nanocarriers designed and derived from inorganic materials such as like gold nanoparticles, silica
nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes have been explored for tremendous applications in this area.
Similarly, nanoparticles composed of some organic material alone or in combination with inorganic nano-cargos have
been developed pre-clinically and possess excellent features desired. Photo-thermal therapy, MRI, simultaneous imaging
and delivery, combination chemotherapy with diagnosis are a few of the known methods exploring cancer therapy and
detection as organ/tissue/molecular/sub-cellular level as well. This review comprises an overview of the recent reports
meant for nanotheranostics purposes. Targeted cancer nanotheranostics have been included for understating tumor microenvironment or cell specific targeting approach employed. A brief account of various strategies is also included for the
readers highlighting mechanism of cancer therapy.
Curcuma caesia is commonly known as kali haldi and it belongs to the family Zingiberaceae. Black turmeric is an uncommon endemic as well as ethno medicinally important of South East Asia. This herb is available throughout north-east, central India, Papi Hills of East Godavari, West Godavari, and Andhra Pradesh. In the traditional system of medicine, fresh and dried rhizomes of Curcuma caesia are used in treating leucoderma, asthma, tumours, piles, bronchitis, bruises etc. Curcuma caesia has scientifically studied for various therapeutical activities like antioxidant, antibacterial, antipyretic, larvicidal, insecticidal, antimicrobial, wound healing and anti-hyperglycaemic. The present review is an effort to give a detailed survey of the literature on its, phytochemistry, traditional uses and therapeutical studies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
