This study aimed to chart out the effects of teaching reading using Know-Want-Learned (KWL) strategy of Blachowicz and Ogle. This study employed quantitative method by having one pre-test and posttest research design, conducted at SMPN 2 Kejuruan Muda, Aceh Tamiang District, with a total sample of 26 students. The test was analyzed by using t-test. The study revealed that there was an improvement from the pre-test to the posttest and that the teacher had implemented KWL strategy accordingly so that the students improved their reading comprehension skill. In addition, KWL is one of the basic strategies developed to know the extent of learners’ ability and the way they commit it on their own. Thus, the strategy itself has an effect to trigger the students to be autonomous learners. However, it is suggested that the teachers modify some steps in the KWL procedures to eventually motivate the students in learning reading.
<strong>Aim:</strong> The objective of this study is to obtain the optimum efficiency of Lead (Pb) removal by adsorption using shrimp shells chitosan. Adsorption is one of the alternative ways to treat heavy metal. Various substances can be used as adsorbents for the adsorption process. One of the natural adsorbents that can be utilized is shrimp shells. <strong>Methodology and Results:</strong> In general, the process of making chitin into chitosan includes demineralization with dilute HCl, deproteinization with dilute NaOH, then deacetylation of chitin using concentrated NaOH. This study would demonstrate the adsorption on artificial waste containing 100 mg/L of Pb using 1 gram of chitosan with variations in pH (4, 5, 6) and time (30, 60, 90 minutes) to determine the effectiveness of chitosan made of shrimp shells in reducing Pb concentration. The results show that the highest removal efficiency of lead was achieved at pH 4 and 90 minutes duration with a removal percentage of 99.88%. <strong>Conclusion, significance, and impact study:</strong> Chitosan compounds as the results of shrimp shells processing have amine groups (NH2) which are nucleophiles (rich in electrons). It is favorable to be used as biocoagulants or bioadsorbents of lead heavy metal with a removal efficiency of above 90%.
A B S T R A C T Investor realized that the stock market gradually decreased during World Cup.The research aimed to analyze the return of market reaction which happenned before, during, and after World Cup 2014 on ASEAN stock market. This study aims to identify and analyze the application of strategic management in revealing the challenges of professionalism in the Digitalization Era. This study used a qualitative method with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data were tested for validity and analyzed by data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. This study showed that the strategic management of Islamic education in revealing the challenges of professionalism in the Digitalization Era at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Sambas changed in terms of the culture of the teaching and learning process and teacher performance based on intense digitalization. In terms of management, the principal at MIN 1 Sambas has implemented a Madrasa-Based Management Strategy in the Digital Era and carried out Online Training Program for the teachers.
This article aimed to discuss the effect of colleague support, communication quality on work engagement and job satisfaction in 100 human resources sharia hotels in Semarang. To answer hypotheses the data obtained being analysed with structural equation modeling using Partial Least Square (PLS) estimation. The support of colleagues has a significant influence on job satisfaction. Colleague support was found to be insignificant on work involvement. Communication quality has a significant influence on job satisfaction and job involvement. Work involvement does not have a significant effect on job satisfaction. To improve job satisfaction, it is necessary to improve the quality of communication, support from colleagues and work superiors by involving colleagues in various events conducted by the organization. This research does not consider increasing compensation such as awards and awards, as well as other retreats that might increase work engagement on job satisfaction. Keywords: Colleague Support; Communication Quality; Work Engagement; Job Satisfaction
