A female Asian palm civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus), three years old was carried for a medical checkup to Ruddy animal's clinic in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia. The civet suffers enlargement of abdominal mammary glands, painless lump, asymmetric size (4.1 and 8.4 cm in diameter), and lacerated wound on the large one with severe haemorrhage. The unilateral mastectomy was conducted under anaesthesia to handles both haemorrhage and tumour mass. Following the surgery, the tumour mass was stored in 10% neutral buffer formalin for histopathology using Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry against antibody, anti-CD4+ and CD8+, further, a blood sample collected before and after surgery (on days: 0, 7, 30, and 60) for representing the healing progress. The chemotherapy was given using the combination of oral cyclophosphamide and intravenous injection of vincristine. According to laboratory results, the final diagnosis was mixed mammary carcinosarcoma with minimal expression of CD8+, notwithstanding, it showed the better prognosis after surgery and chemotherapy.
Kucing menunjukkan aktifitas normal setelah 7 hari perawatan.
This study was conducted to determine the comparison of re-epithelialization, granulation and the number of inflammatory cells infiltration between topical application of chicken yolk oil and bioplacenton on white rat (Rattus norvegicus) skin that has induced with second degree burn wound. This research was a laboratory experimental study using 18 male white rats divided into control positive (K+) group, bioplacenton (P1) and chicken yolk oil (P2). Observation of the re-epithelialization, granulation and inflammatory cells infiltration were carried out 14 days after the rat were induced with second degree burn wound. The necropcy was performed on the 14th day and then the skin organs were treated with HE staining and observed under a microscope. Data analysis was performed using Kruskal-Wallis followed by Mann Whitney. The results of the analysis showed that K + had significantly different results (P <0.05) compared to P1 and P2 in the scores of re-epithelialization, granulation and the number of inflammatory cell infiltrations. P1 and P2 were not significantly different (P> 0.05). In this study, it can be concluded that chicken egg yolk has a comparable effect with bioplacenton toward the score of re-epithelialization, granulation and the number of inflammatory cell infiltration.
This study aimed to determine the effect of snakehead fish extracts (Channa striata) and turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica) towards incision wound healing in rats (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty-four male rats, aged 8-week-old, 200-300 grams of body weight divided into 4 groups: control (P0), treatment with povidone iodine as positive control (P1), treatment with snakehead fish extract (P2) and treatment with turmeric extract (P3). The rats were given premedication consisting of acepromazine 0.5 mg kg / BW and atropine 10 mg / kg BW. The rats were then anesthetized using ketamine 0.1 mg / kg BW. An incision was made on each rats’ back area along 2 cm with 0.05 mm depth and observed for 14 days. Observations were carried out every day with data collection at <7 days, 7-14 days, and 14 days. The One-Way ANOVA statistical analysis resulted that the wound fluid parameters and the duration of wound healing showed no significant difference between P0, P1, P2 and P3. This study concluded that the administration of povidone iodine, snakehead fish extract, and turmeric extract influenced the healing of incision wounds in rats.
