Introduction Objective cutaneous metastasis from carcinoma of the uterine cervix is an uncommon occurrence. The outcome of patients with skin metastasis is usually poor as they are often associated with locoregional recurrence. This metastasis impairs the quality of life and shortens survival. Consequently, physicians should be aware of the possible existence of skin metastasis in cervical cancer. Clinical suspicion should lead to a careful additional evaluation whenever a cutaneous nodule presents in the course of the disease. Case report We report a rare case of metastasis from squamous cell carcinoma of cervix to the umbilicus. The patient was diagnosed with stage IIB FIGO. Four months after chemoradiation patient presented with a nodule in the umbilical region. Biopsy performed and metastatic squamous cell carcinoma was diagnosed. Patient underwent salvage therapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin. Conclusion To the best of our knowledge, this is a rare reported occurrence of umbilical metastasis in cervical cancer without prior laparotomy or laparoscopy. This metastatic lesion has a grave prognosis and the mean survival is about 3 months like our case.
The aim of the present study was to explore the mediating role of patience on the relationship between mindfulness and suicide ideation. To do so, 110 patients with cardiovascular diseases were recruited from the outpatient Clinic of Imam Reza in the city of Shiraz in Iran. These patients completed The Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire, Patience Scale, and Suicide Ideation Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results indicated a significant positive relationship between mindfulness and patience ( r = .32, p < .001). There was a significant negative relationship between patience and suicide ideation ( r = -.36, p < .001). The results of mediating model showed that patience functioned as a mediator in the relationship between mindfulness and suicide ideation among patients with cardiovascular diseases ( β = -.33, p = .005). According to these findings, it can be claimed that mindfulness affects patients' suicidal thoughts negatively through patience.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate prediction of suicide ideation based on early maladaptive schemas and the Big-Five personality traits in a sample of Iranian late adolescents. Methods: 315 high school students (160 female, 155 male) were recruited by multi-stage cluster sampling method from Shiraz city. Participants completed NEO Five-Factor Inventory, Schema Questionnaire, and Beck Scale for Suicidal Ideation. Data were analyzed using hierarchical regression analysis. Results: showed that early maladaptive schema significantly predicted suicide ideation beyond personality traits and demographic variables (∆R 2 =0.02, P<0.01). Additionally, among early maladaptive schema domains, disconnection and rejection (β=0.25, P=0.003), in a positive way, and over-vigilance and inhibition (β=-0.17, P=0.011) domains, in a negative way, predicted suicide ideation beyond personality traits and demographic variables.
Conclusion:The study showed that schema therapy approach can address particular domains of early maladaptive schemas (disconnection and rejection) for preventing or treating suicide ideation in adolescents regardless of their personality traits and demographic variables. Additionally, the relationship between early maladaptive schema on the one hand, and the NEO Five-Factor model and the basic and clinical application schema therapy, on the other hand, is discussed in detail.
