985hthiriasis palpebrarum is an uncommon cause of blepharitis and conjunctivitis and it may easily be neglected in the diagnosis. A high index of suspicion and careful examination of the patient's lid margins and eyelashes will lead to the proper diagnosis. It is generally caused by Phthirus pubis (pubic lice). Phthirus are 2mm long and have a broad-shaped, crab-like body. Their thick, clawed legs make them less mobile than the Pediculus species, however enable them to infest areas where the adjacent hair is within their grasp (eyelashes, beard, chest, axillary region, pubic region).1 They rarely infest the scalp.Blepharoconjunctivitis Resistant to Routine Blepharitis Theraphy: A Case with Phthiriasis Palpebrarum A AB BS S T TR RA AC CT T A case with phthiriasis palpebrarum upon eyelids was reported in this article. A fouryear-old girl with itching and irritation of both eyes for three months had been admitted, and hyperemia, crusty lid margins with grayish discoloration at the basement were noted in the ocular examination. Numerous nits and lice confirmed as pubic lice by microscobic evaluation were detected on the eyelashes by slit-lamp examination. Treatment with 1% permethrin shampoo and pure vaseline were initiated but due to its irritation she could not use the shampoo. Diluated 50% vinegar solution was added to the treatment as to be used for two weeks. No severe ocular side effects occurred during the treatment. Instead of 1% permethrin shampoo which is difficult to apply upon the children, using 50% diluted vinegar may be an alternative method for the treatment of phthiriasis palpebrarum owing to its keratolytic effect.K Ke ey y W Wo or rd ds s: : Blepharitis; conjunctivitis Ö ÖZ ZE ET T Bu çalışmada phthiriasis palpebrarum'lu bir vaka bildirilmiştir. Çocuklarda uygulanması sıkıntılı olan %1'lik permetrin'in yerine %50 seyreltilmiş sirke kullanımı, keratolitik etkisi nedeniyle phthiriasis palpebrarum'un tedavisinde diğer tedavi metodlarına alternatif oluşturabilir.A An na ah h t ta ar r K Ke e l li i m me e l le er r: : Blefarit; konjonktivit T Tu ur rk ki iy ye e K Kl li in ni ik kl le er ri i J J M Me ed d S Sc ci i 2 20 01 11 1; ;3 31 1( (4 4) ): :9 98 85 5--8 8
Abstract:Tracheobronchial foreign objects are life threatening situations. Although they occur more frequently in children, they may occur in any age group. Sometimes, when aspiration episode cannot be received in patients who have persisting dry cough and labored breathing, foreign object aspiration must be suspected. In addition to the listening signs in diagnosis, chest radiography is sufficient most of the time. In this case, a 54-year old male patient is mentioned who aspirated implant material and subsequently reported to the emergency clinic with the complaints of labored breathing and dry cough.
Background: Lichen planus is a skin disease that may last for years, mainly affecting the skin surface and mucous membranes (such as the oral and genital mucosa), and more rarely, on the nails and hairs. Systemic acitretin is an effective therapeutic agent used in the treatment of lichen planus. The skeletal toxicity of retinoids is controversial. Because skeletal toxicity cannot be demonstrated with acitretin, radiological monitoring is not recommended. Case Report: A 24-year-old male patient was admitted to our dermatology outpatient clinic with hand metacarpophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal joint swelling, and pain, who was in the third month of systemic acitretin treatment for oral lichen planus. In our case, another cause of etiologic could not be detected, and arthritis due to acitretin was considered. Conclusion:As a result, it should not be forgotten that acute arthritis may rarely occur during the use of acitretin and should not be overlooked by the clinician.
Abstract:Morgagni hernia is an extremely rarely seen pathology and observation of it in advanced ages is even a rarer situation. Morgagni hernia, asymptomatically progressing in adult age can turn into symptomatic situation in advanced ages. In a 75-year old woman who applied with serious respiration difficulty, dysphagia and dyspepsia complaints, Morgagni hernia, along with hiatal hernia, was diagnosed. Laparotomy showed omentum passing to thorax. This report highlights the rare presentation of Morgagni and hiatus hernia.
