Comparative study of chemical and light induced electron-transfer reactions of some (anthracen-9-yl)methanamines is reported. Ceric ammonium nitrate was used to initiate chemically-induced electron-transfer reactions of anthracenemethanamines. Nitration at the 2-position followed by oxidation was the major pathway observed in the reaction with CAN while electron-transfer mediated C-N bond cleavage followed by dimerization was the major pathway in photochemical reactions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
