Globalization is an ongoing process that is bearing witness to unprecedented change. The industrial age rewarded organizations that cloistered scarce information, creating closed secretive organizations. Digitization of information is creating an entirely new era based on information abundance. This information abundance allows workers around the world to connect to digitized resources and compete globally for work. A premium is now being paid to organizations that create innovative solutions from within this information-abundant ecosystem. This study identifies highly read books and highly cited research articles on innovation and conducts a cross-case inductive analysis on the key terms related to teamwork. The dominant emergent theme that an innovative culture is essential provides important insight for human resource development professionals as they build teams in an effort to compete globally for innovative work.
Europe as an antiscorbutic medicine [1,5]. The tree is also used for commercial purposes, in wood production, crafts, manufacturing and the pulp industry due to the high quality of its fibers. Its architectural characteristics and natural resistance to insects and microorganisms are advantageous for playgrounds in parks and gardens in a wide range of weather conditions. The wood of this species is highly valued and used to manufacture furniture and musical instruments as well as to protect crops [7]. Furthermore, extracts of aerial parts of D. winteri have industrial applications in products such as cosmetics, phytonutrients and pest repellent agents [7-9]. Previous reports on the chemical composition of continental D. winteri revealed the presence of tannins, flavonoids and essential oils containing sesquiterpene lactones [5]. The drimane-type sesquiterpenoids possess a wide variety of biological activities, including antimicrobial, pungency, antibacterial, antifungal, antifeedant, cytotoxic, molluscicidal, piscicidal, growth regulation and phytotoxic properties [9]. The pungency of several drimanes and their irritant properties on the skin (allergies) has also attracted attention [6-10]. To the best of our knowledge, as of the present, fourteen drimanetype sesquiterpenoids have been isolated from continental D. winteri and probably also from D. andina [5,6], as well as one aromadendrane derivative [11] and one drimane-type sesquiterpene trimer [12].
A 1-year old male (with no significant past medical history) presented to the Department of Plastic Surgery for evaluation and eventual resection of a subcutaneous frontal mass. Imaging of the head revealed a second intracranial mass and he was referred to the Department of Neurosurgery. Subsequently, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) detected two T-1-hyperintense masses. One was the extra-cranial frontal mass noted clinically and the other was an intra-axial, interhemispheric frontal mass. Additionally, partial agenesis of posterior corpus callosum was found. (Figure 1) At that time, only the subcutaneous mass was resected and physical examination was normal. Four years later a follow-up MRI revealed that the intracranial lesion had doubled in size ( Figure 2). It was hyperintense on both T1 and T2 (Figures 2 and 3). Craniotomy was performed and a soft yellow mass was partially resected. Focal attachment to the cingulate gyri was appreciated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
