Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by Dengue virus. The disease is spread rapidly in the territory of Indonesia by Aedes aegypti mosquito as the vector. Using Moringa Aloifera leaf extract as a natural larvacide is an attempt to control the disease. This study aims to determine the effect of Moringa Aloifera leaf extract on the mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae. Moringa Aloifera leaf extract is obtained by maceration. The experimental design was divided into negative control groups containing aquades, positive controls containing abate and sample treatment groups. Phytochemical test and UV-Vis spectroscopic quantitative test to identify active compounds. A total of 20 Aedes aegypti larvae were put into a glass containing a solution of distilled water, abate solution and sample solution. Observations are made every 2 hours for 24 hours. The results showed that Moringa leaf extract solution could kill larvae at LC50 3953.17 ppm and LT50 18.98 hours. The mortality rates of larvae at each concentration were 1000 ppm, 5.25 units / 2 hours; 2000ppm, 5.28 units / 2 hours; 3000ppm, 5.91 units / 2 hours; 4000 ppm, 7.18 units / 2 hours, and 5000 ppm 8.63 units / 2 hours. The results showed that Moringa Aloifera leaf extract can kill Aedes aegypti larvae because they contain alkaloids, tannins and flavonoids. Keywords: larvacide, Moringa, Aedes aegypti larvae
Innovation is needed using alternative ingredients as natural larvacide instead of temefos. One of the plants that can be used for making natural larvacide is Moringa (Moringa oleifera) which contains alkaloids and flavonoids. This study aims to determine the effect of the type of solvent on Moringa (M. oleifera) extract on the mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae and determine the most effective solvent in extracting Moringa leaves as A. aegypti larvacide. This study uses a completely randomized design with 5 replications. Moringa leaf extract is obtained by maceration with aquades, ethanol, methanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane. Moringa leaf extracts were tested for phytochemistry and larvacidal power was tested for A. aegypti larvae. Mortality data were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey tests. The results showed that the type of solvent in moringa leaf extract (M. oleifera) did not significantly influence the mortality of A. aegypti larvae and the most effective type of solvent for extraction of Moringa leaves were aquades and ethanol. Based on the research findings it can be concluded that the type of solvent in moringa leaf extract does not significantly influence the mortality of A. aegypti larvae. However, the most effective types of solvents for extraction of Moringa leaves are aquades and ethanol.
Tofu is one source of protein from white soybeans by finely milling, boiling, and printing. The shelf life of tofu is very limited, under normal conditions (room temperature) the shelf life is on average 1-2 days, if more than this limit the taste of tofu will turn sour and give rise to a rotten aroma so it is not suitable for consumption. This makes foods such as tofu often added with chemicals or natural ingredients to make them last longer. One of the chemicals that is dangerous and often used is formalin, so there is a need for research on the content of formaldehyde in white tofu, especially in Wongsorejo District because white tofu is one of the foods that are often consumed by the community. This research was initiated by collecting tofu samples from four tofu factories in Wongsorejo District, namely Wongsorejo Village. The test was carried out qualitatively by using the Formalin Test Kit method. Based on the physical test and qualitative formalin test conducted on the four tofu samples taken from factories in the Districts of Wongsorejo, Sumberkencono, Bajulmati, and Sidodadi, it was found that all samples did not contain formalin.
