Nanotechnology is widely used by researchers due to its high surface volume ratio. It is nowadays employed in wastewater treatment due to its high efficiency. Metallic nanoparticles are used as it shows anti-microbial property and catalytic property. In the present study silver nanoparticle is used for treating the polluted water. Its characterisation is done using UV-Visible spectroscopy, FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy). The confirmation for the formation of the nanoparticle is done using the UV-Visible spectroscopy and functional group confirmation is done using the FTIR. In FTIR the peaks are observed at 3311.481 cm− 1 and 2402.918 cm− 1 corresponding to O-H Stretching and N-H Stretching. The peak at 1765.336 cm− 1 and 1358.396 cm− 1 represents the C-H Bending, and O-H Bending for the synthesised silver nanoparticle. This treated water can be further used for agricultural and domestic purposes.
