The geological event that happens because of an unbalance between shear strength and shear stress on rock mass is known as a landslide. This usually occurs due to improper handling of the exposed material. The landslide occurs because of the reaction to reduce the burden it bears so that the mass of the rock will move rock mass from the higher elevation to lower elevation. Many landslides, in west java, Indonesia occurred on exposed clay shale that is protected by soldier pile with 3m in distance between pile. On top of the clay shale, there is a building which gives an additional load on the clay shale. To determine the effect of water and temperature on clay shale, static slaking index test was conducted. With a submerge variation, it was found that the slaking index value ranged from 2.17% to 12.0% with the slaking classification from very low to medium. The size distribution was produced from 1/4 and 1/2 sample submerge show bigger rock breakage than rock with 3/4 sample submerge and sample fully submerge. Observations of the sample in room temperature without contact of water and no additional mass were also done. The sample was still intact until the end of research work.
Abstract. One of the supporting of a company's production achievement target is to have good mine road access. To be able to hold the load on it like a conveyance it is necessary to calculate the bearing capacity of the soil parameter. Based on the facts of soil inability to produce overburden due to mine access roads experiencing failure. Determination of the design thickness of the structure road layer referred to the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) value and data obtained from Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP). The largest means of transportation used was the Komatsu HD 785 with a load weight of 166,000kg. Based on the DCP test value, the field CBR obtained at the research site ranged from 9.40%- 28.97%.The value of the carrying capacity of the ground was able to support the wheel load of HD 785 with a CBR value of 36%.Retrieved repair the thickness of the pavement above the subgrade suitable for bearing this load was 16inches.The results of the DCP subgrade test with average value of 19.23% and the results obtained for the surface coarse layer using CLY MIX 20% material with a thickness of 9 inch and base coarse layer using CLY MIX 30% material with a thickness of 7 inches. Abstrak. Salah satu pendukung tercapainya target produksi suatu perusahaan dengan memiliki akses jalan tambang yang memiliki kualitas baik. Agar mampu menahan beban diatasnya seperti alat angkut maka diperlukan perhitungan parameter daya dukung tanah.
Acid mine drainage is acidic water that arises as a result of mining activities. Acidic water has a high acidity, which is often characterized by a low pH and contains high levels of heavy metals Fe and Mn. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of activated carbon on the adsorption process and the effect of mass of activated carbon on eggshells. The method used in this research is the adsorption method using activated carbon of eggshell which is physically and chemically activated. This study used a mass variation of 5, 10, 15 and 20 grams with a contact time of 30 minutes and an adsorbent size of 200 mesh. The parameters studied were heavy metals iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). The initial concentration of Fe acid mine waste was 29.179 mg/L, and Mn was 7.9692 mg/L. The results showed that the mass of activated carbon had an effect on decreasing the levels of Fe and Mn metals. On physical activation the average decrease in Fe metal was 99.50% and Mn metal was 53.21%, while on chemical activation the average decrease in Fe metal was 97.72% and Mn metal was 97.97%.Keywords: Acid mine water, Fe, Mn, Activated carbon, egg shell
The mechanical properties of Clay Shale are very unique. When it is dry, it shrinks and hardens, butwhen it absorbs water, it swells and to some extent loses its shear strength so that the drop-instrength can occur suddenly even with its own weight. Due to the nature of the swell-shrink that arestrongly influenced by climate and weather, clay shale durability may decrease over time when indirect contact with air and water. Research on clay shale was done in Sentul City, Bogor - West Java,Indonesia on Jatiluhur formation, using dynamic slaking (slake durability test) and slaking static test.Dynamic slacking test is done in three times i.e. after sampling, after 3 months and after 9 months.Slake durability test results from 3 different drilling points, shows that within 9 months, has not seenthe decreasing effect of durability. With a low Plasticity index, the durability research in Sentul City isin medium durability to medium-high durability classification.
