Sold in the market is the key to the primary purpose of business making and development of products, which can be done with improved packaging, as with packaging that attract potential customers in turn will have an impact on the purchase decision of the product concerned. This service activities has the objective to increase the market share of processed products of beans through improved packaging, primarily on design and welding technology label packaging. The results of the banking activities is known that the welding design and packaging is done on two targets SMEs were able to improve the image of the products that have an impact on increasing the added value and the market share of products in the market.
Clove (Syzygium aromaticum) is an Indonesian indigenous plant, which belongs to the most valuable spices in the world. Central Java has been one of the clove production centers in Indonesia, but in the last six years, the area and production tend to decline due to poor management. In order to revive the glorious existence of the clove, the act of revitalization in the clove cultivation becomes crucial, given the role of clove as one of the world’s important commodities. This research uses purposive sampling in some regions, namely Wonogiri Regency and Pemalang Regency. The respondents selected as subjects of this research are 30 clove farmers chosen from each regency in purposively using snowball-sampling technique. Apart from the clove farmers, the information is gained from the Field Extension Officer, farmer groups, clove traders, and any representatives from the related agencies. Revitalization is carried out by increasing the capacity building, the institution, and the cultivation activity of the clove farmers. The key of success in this effort is the good collaboration between the farmers, farmer groups, and the stakeholder involved.
Cardamom is one of important spice commodities in the world; however, Indonesia's export contribution to global market is considered low. Cardamom production in Central Java contributes to the export of Indonesian cardamom. Central Java has the potential of human and natural resource for cardamom cultivation, but it has not been optimally utilized. This article aims to study the comparative advantages of cardamom and its sustainability. The design of this study is exploratory research, in which a research aims to obtain description or study on the condition of comparative advantage of cardamom in Central Java. Revealed Comparative Agency (RCA) belongs to one of methods used to find out competitiveness of commodity export of a country viewed from a comparative advantage. Cardamom sustainability is analyzed descriptively based on the actual situation and by using RCA result analysis. The result shows that the RCA value above 1 means in that period the cardamom commodity of Central Java has a strong comparative advantage in the international market. Despite the strong comparative advantage, its value tends to decrease. A serious concern should be given, considering the sharp decline. Therefore, the sustainability of cardamom comparative advantage needs to be improved.
<p>Penanganan pasca panen kentang di kawasan agropolitan Merbabu Desa Sumberejo Kabupaten Magelang diperlukan guna mengoptimalkan kuantitas maupun kualitas, sehingga menguntungkan produsen maupun konsumen. Produksi kentang yang berlimpah memiliki potensi untuk diolah menjadi keripik kentang dan menjadi <em>icon</em> oleh-oleh wisatawan di lereng Merbabu. Introduksi Teknologi Tepat Guna ini sebagai upaya peningkatan daya saing produk olahan kentang di daerah lereng Merbabu dengan berbagai kegiatan seperti fasilitasi peralatan produksi keripik kentang, introduksi mesin kentang <em>stick</em> dan <em>slice</em>, pelatihan pengolahan kentang untuk UKM, perbaikan desain kemasan, pengurusan legalitas usaha berupa P-IRT, dan fasilitasi timbangan. Hasil kegiatan ini mampu meningkatkan kapasitas produksi keripik kentang 17-20% per bulan. kualitas keripik kentang lebih seragam dan memperpanjang umur produk. Diversifikasi produk dihasilkan dengan usaha olahan kentang menjadi “Donat Kentang Merbabu” dan “Cake Kentang Merbabu”. Secara keseluruhan peningkatan omset penjualan produk olahan kentang, meningkatnya daya saing produk dapat meningkatkan pendapatan kelompok petani kentang Agro Lestari Merbabu.</p>
